Many children have forms of receptive and expressive language delays.
At Le Parapluie Bleu, we assess language using a Verbal Behavior Approach to teaching language. This approach encourages learners to connect words with their purposes (functions) as opposed to their structure, and teaches language that relies on the analysis of how language is used. It teaches why we use words and how they are useful in everyday communication. ABA principles such as positive reinforcement strategies are used to promote language acquisition. VB helps to teach the understanding that words have meaning.

Speech pathologists help children to acquire the necessary tools to attain receptive and expressive language skills. At Le Parapluie Bleu, language delays are assessed and targets are worked on using an ABA approach, which makes use of positive reinforcement strategies.
